Prevent Windshield Repair Spring Valley

car glass repair

Want to avoid a car glass repair? Bad enough without the inconvenience in spending time or money. You must take time out of your day to drive to the repair shop. You must spend money to get the repair. However, a great way to prevent windshield repair is to stop using these harmful products that people tend to use when washing their cars. Not only are these products not meant for cars, but they scratch the glass.

Sponges

Sponges are perhaps the most frequently used product when it comes to washing a car. People associate sponges with cleanliness because they are clean dishware and sometimes even counters. However, that is not the case for cars. Remember that sponges scrub, not gently clean. Therefore, if you use sponges to wash your car, you can scratch the paint and glass. Though signs of scratches do not show right away, over months and years, you will notice how using a sponge ruins the glass. So, it is crucial to refrain from using one if you do not plan on getting a car glass repair.

Towels

Most likely, you have used towels to wash and/or dry your car on many occasions without knowing they were bad. Just like with using a sponge to clean your auto glass, using a towel to dry the glass can scratch the surface. While towels seem soft, they are not soft enough to use on auto glass. In the end, they will only damage your windshield and windows (and even your car paint).

Ammonia (Windex)

Many household products that you might be using to clean your car glass have ammonia in them. And ammonia is very harmful on cars. For example, many Windex products have ammonia. Though you can use Windex on regular windows and mirrors, you should never use it on your auto glass. Not only does ammonia leave streaks on auto glass (which creates glares while you drive), but it can also ruin the glass if it is tinted. Over time, ammonia will cause the tint to peel off, leaving you with terrible windows and windshield. Thus, it is best to steer clear of ammonia-based products if you do not want to deal with a car glass repair.

What Can You Use?

Now you know what products not to use. So, what are you supposed to use now that you have rid of all the products and tools you relied on previously for washing your car? The answer is very simple.

  • Get a microfiber cloth, or two (one for washing and one for drying). A microfiber cloth is safe to use on a car’s paint and glass. It is soft and smooth and will not scratch.
  • Then, if you go to an auto shop or retail stores like Walmart, you should find many products that are safe to use on auto glass. Some examples are Armor All Auto Glass Cleaner, Mothers Glass Cleaner, Rain-X Automotive Glass Cleaner, and Invisible Glass Premium Glass Cleaner. These are recommended for washing auto glass.

And that is all. You just need three products, two microfiber cloths and one windshield glass cleaner and you will be good to go.

Prevent a car glass repair by cutting these products from your car wash cleaning kit and switch to better products that are better for your car.
